Maria Sharapova the current World Number 2 has made many of the crowd happy after she clinch the title and became the champion at the Italy Open 2012. She has performed really well winning all matches all the way to the final and face French Open champion Li Na. At the final, it was Li Na who took the lead 6-4, 4-0 and it began to drizzle. The match was interrupted twice by the rain and the clay became mud. Both players quickly won the points back but it was Maria Sharapova who won after the two hours stop in 5 minutes 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5). Maria Sharapova will be getting ready at the coming French Open.

Tactical returning in tennis game

It has been a while since the last post but today feel like posting about one important aspect of tennis game which is as equally important as tactical serving - tactical returning. Simply the fact that every time we give a good serve, we should also give a good returning then we can rally and win the points.

In retuning a ball we can either defend or attack and that depends on the serve, if the shot is powerful perhaps defending it by standing behind the baseline and deflecting the ball back might be better then. If the shot is slightly weaker then perhaps moving inside the baseline and hit the ball on the rise with more acceleration and topspin is more appropriate.

Placement is always something to consider and we can aim to hit diagonally across the court to land the ball deep or about three quarter length and this can prevent your opponent to attack back easily then. Another way is to hit straight down but keep close to the singles sidelines and this is usually for serves which are slow and shorter.

Moments at the Sony Ericsson Open 2012 Final

Maria Sharapova did not managed to clinch the championship title even though it seems she had the high chance to do so. World Number Four Agnieszka Radwanska won 7-5 6-4. Maria Sharapova who won her 7-1 times during their encounter of the games did not seems to have an upper hand over her this time as the Pole managed to crack her serves later on. It is also not too easy for the Pole as she managed to win Venus Williams and Marion Bartoli before reaching to the final.

At the double team match, Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova took home the title and it ended off with a pretty jumpy and bunny conclusion. After winning the title Maria Kirilenko jumped really high up that make her looks like a sweet bunny and later on when they received the trophy they dressed themselves up to look really like bunnies and show the obvious.

Another great tennis open this year's Sony Ericsson Open 2012 is and perhaps at the next Open Maria Sharapova can reach to the final and this win back the championship title. She seems close to get back to the World No. 1 spot again.

It was a battle between two former World Number One and both have much to prove that they are still at the top of their games. Both advances with confidence and for Caroline Wozniacki who has been World Number One for consecutive two years but slipped this year after not being able to secured titles at grand slams and allowing Victoria Azarenka to climb up. She wants to win back titles and top players. For Maria Sharapova, she has been playing pretty well these days reaching to finals of the games first in Australia Open the BNP Open and now Sony Ericsson Open which she has been at the finals for many times. This time is one great game where she can win.

Caroline Wozniacki took the lead at the start winning Maria Sharapova at the first round and later on Maria Sharapova came back and won the game 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. It was a great moment for Maria Sharapova and this time she will not be meeting current World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka who was knocked out by Marion Bartoli and subsequently the French player lost too.

Now it is Maria Sharapova time to show she can win the championship.
